We’ve heard it a gazillion times before.

From grade school through high school, into college and adulthood — teachers, physicians, nutritionists, MD’s, OB G’s, PCP’s, the CDC — have told us that a diet rich in fruits and vegetables provides key nutrients that protect us from all kinds of illnesses — diabetes, heart disease, some cancers, high cholesterol, kidney disease, muscle pain, inflammation — the list goes on and on.

Our Former First Lady went over and beyond to hip us to the benefits of a health-conscious diet and regular exercise. She planted a garden at the White House. Cultivated every fruit and veggie you can imagine. Opened it up to children, educators and families and taught them how to do the same.

Why? Because fruits and vegetables are vital to our well-being. Vitamins from mother nature. A gift to us. Dating back to our ancestors, around 2700 BC.

When we deprive ourselves and our children of fruits and vegetables, we deprive our bodies of key nutrients, enzymes and antioxidants it needs to perform at its best.

Despite these obvious benefits, only 1 in 10 adults consume enough fruits and vegetables.
